Founding Objectives
Background
Number-theoretic algorithms and their related research fields have strong connections to coding theory and cryptology-areas that are currently receiving significant attention for their practical applications. This development has demonstrated that number theory, traditionally considered one of the most abstract areas of mathematics, can directly address critical challenges in real-world computing.
Field Development
The advancement of this field requires three key elements:
- Shared access to specialized databases
- Development of number theory-specific software
- Active collaboration between researchers and developers from both industry and academia
Group Formation
To promote research in algorithmic number theory and its applications, the Japan Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics has established the Research Group on Algorithmic Number Theory and Its Applications (JANT).
Initial Activities
As our primary activity, we organize regular meetings approximately every two to three months. We welcome participation from all interested researchers and practitioners in the field.
